The brief was to create a simple, restrained and somewhat mysterious brand identity to allow for the growth and potential directions of the business and to attract the target audience of artistically minded people who see the value in quality design.
The logomark and brand rollout is inspired by the moods and experiences of Naa Studio's designs, inside and out, and how these alter once light and shadow move through the spaces at varying times of the day – corners and angles are accentuated, colours are intensified and forms are obscured/revealed. The abstracted cut out lettering style also hints at the pattern created when light and shadow hit foliage through a tree canopy of the bush, an image often seen in the beach and bush landscape.
The stacked composition and angular letterforms of the logomark relate to building and construction and the clean lines represent the precise geometry inherent in these structures. The shapes and forms fit together, indicative of the variety of elements which work together to make a cohesive whole.
The colour palette is based on the rich colours of the local area, in particular the multitude of colours seen in the Point Addis cliffs which run along the coast. The clean grid structures and alternating orientations of the printed pieces represent the precision and rigour of the company and their fresh way of seeing the world from different angles.
